About Chalatenango Low Zone

Chalatenango in Nahuatl means "Valley of Sand and Water". Cold weather and beautiful landscapes in upper make Chalatenango one of the most visited destinations in the country. A place full of tourist sites, customs, traditions and stories.

Chalatenango is a department of El Salvador. Its head is Chalatenango department is located north of the capital, bordering Honduras. There lies Cerro El Pital with 2800 meters above sea level, which is the highest point of the country.
